On the 28 February, Mr. Thomas Wong visited the recently inaugurated Consulate of Portugal in Guangzhou to discuss the long history of friendship between China and Portugal.
Mr. Wong also shared with the Portuguese Consul his childhood stories as a student in a Portuguese school in Hong Kong, explaining that those childhood links with the Portuguese culture and has motivated him to work hard on bringing Portuguese entrepreneurs and companies to mainland China. The Consulate declared its appreciation for CW endeavors and efforts.
China has risen to Portugal’s 11th largest trade partner in the decade since 2008. Last year, in the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of China-Portugal diplomatic relations the Consulate of Portugal of Guangzhou, the Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Portugal to strengthen ties. To illustrate the increasing closeness of the relationship of between China and Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa accepted Xi Jinping’s invitation to visit China in the coming April.
Meanwhile in April, CW will lead a Shenzhen delegation to Lisbon attending an economic and trade cooperation conference held on 29 April.
