On 3 April 2019, our partner Mr. Thomas Wong had the privilege to attend the HKTDC luncheon in Hong Kong in honor of the President of Panama Mr. Juan Carlos Varela Rodríguez. The president also had a meeting with Chief Executive of HKSAR, Mrs. Carrie Lam, the day before.
CW started the Latin American business in 2006, and continues to expand our network and promote our niche in the Americas to this day.
In April 2019, David Barriga, our overseas consultant who looks after the Latin America region, traveled to the Coffee Expo 2019 at San Salvador (El Salvador’s capital) and met with important government officials and businessmen. He gave a speech about China and the business opportunities for Salvadorian coffee in China. The expo attracted more than 100 people and David was also invited to attend the next Coffee Expo.
El Salvador is a small country located in Central America with a population of approx.7 million inhabitants and is known for producing very good quality coffee. In August 2018, El Salvador established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China and this has opened up a lot of opportunities for them in terms of trade and investments.
During last year’s CIIE in Shanghai, CW signed a cooperation agreement with the Salvadoran Coffee Council in order to support their coffee export strategy to China.
In fact, CW is the first CPA firm in Hong Kong/Mainland China to visit El Salvador and we are devoted to becoming the first mover to offer our services and expertise to Central American & Caribbean countries (Panama, Costa Rica, El Salvador and Dominican Republic already have diplomatic relations with China) to assist them on expanding their businesses into China. There are total of 7 countries in Central America including Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama, and these untapped markets will definitely bring huge business opportunities to CW in days ahead.
